4 Pro Business Travel Packing Tips

Packing for your business trip isn’t the same as packing for a vacation with your family and friends. Packing for a business trip involves a little more consideration. You want to come off as polished, organized, and equipped with all proper documentation, all while keeping your luggage light.

Here are four key recommendations for packing like a pro for your next trip.

Stick to the Carry-On and Pack Light

Lost luggage, flight delays, and canceled connections; these are all possible consequences of bringing a bulky suitcase and ending up in security check rummaging through your stuff. Besides these inconveniences, you don’t need that much for a business trip. About three sets of official wear and two pairs of shoes would suffice. And these along with documents, toiletries, and chargers for your devices would easily fit in a single duffle bag.

Fold, don’t Roll

Rolling frees up a lot of space when you’re packing, but this is a business trip, and you probably need to keep creases in your clothes at a minimum. Your best bet at this would be to fold rather than to roll. Keep bulky items such as shoes and chargers at the bottom of your bag and your neatly folded clothes on top to further minimize creasing.

Keep Shoes at a Minimum

This is especially important for the ladies to note. Business trips are usually quite short, so you don’t need that many shoes. Two nice pairs are enough; one conservative and a bold one. Similarly, for men, two pairs of shoes are sufficient for a single trip; one black and one brown.

Take it Easy on Accessories

If you are not prepared to lose it, leave it at home. For men, find a simple not-so-expensive watch that you can use for travel purposes. Pack two neutral ties and one neutral belt that will go well with just about anything and you are set. For the ladies, if you are into jewelry, consider purchasing costume jewelry specifically for travel purposes. It would also be wise to leave your real wedding ring diamond stored safely at home. And for the extra flair, carry one or two simple scarfs and you should make it through the trip quite comfortably.

A Few More Things to Consider

For safety purposes carry copies of important documents in a different compartment of your bag. Save electronic copies of the same in case your bag goes missing alltogether.
