4 Tips for Effective Airport Travel

If you think about it, the airport should be a wonderful place; it’s where a potentially magical journey begins. However, if you have spent time at the airport, you know that this is not always the case. The experience can be stressful, with people running back and forth trying to make their flight, get through security checks, grab a snack before take-off, and say goodbye to their loved ones. Air travel stress, and specifically the airport experience, can get the best of us, but it doesn’t have to. So how can we turn this around and make our airport experiences more bearable? Our Westchester Airport Car Service has a few tips for you.

Use a Carry On

Try to carry on as much as you can and whenever possible, avoid the suitcase alltogether. This significantly reduces the chances of losing your luggage and completely removes baggage fees from the equation. Bringing a carry on also ensures that you exit the airport faster when you get to your destination instead of standing around at baggage claim trying to locate your suitcase.

Leave Early

One of the most effective ways to guarantee yourself a less stressful experience at the airport is to give yourself a head start. Whether you are traveling for business or for pleasure, allow yourself enough time to get to the airport. Leave home early and make sure you are at the airport at least two hours before your flight is scheduled to leave. This way you give yourself enough time to deal with potential hurdles you might encounter along the way including traffic, limited parking spaces, security checks etc. We find that it is far much better to arrive early and burn time as you wait for boarding time than to endure the stress of trying to rush through security and get to your gate, luggage in tow.

Dress for the Occasion

Choose a comfortable outfit you can move freely in. If you are a man, go for a loose fitting pair of jeans, a sweater, and comfortable pair of running shoes and if you are a lady, go for flats shoes, a pair of jeans, and a comfortable top. Leave the suit and heels for later; you want to be as comfortable as can be as you move through the thick crowds, go through security, board the plane, and endure the hours in the plane. It is much harder to keep a level head if you feel uncomfortable in your clothes.

Bring Snacks

Airport food is quite expensive, and more often than not, it’s not that great either. Bring some dry snacks from home for when you start to feel hungry. Sometimes when you are not feeling your best, you might just be hungry and you want to keep a pretty clear mind to get you through this potentially hectic experience. Also, remember to carry a water bottle to keep your body hydrated and refreshed throughout the experience.
