4th of July events in Westchester 2017

 

Festivities for this 4th of July weekend are starting Friday evening and running straight through Tuesday the 4th in Westchester County. There are plenty of things scheduled to make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy while celebrating our country’s independence. Clay Art Center

The Clay Art Center in Port Chester is running two exhibitions of sculptural works in clay by acclaimed artists. Natalia Arbalaez is a Rittenberg Fellow, and Logan Wall is an Artist in Residence at the Center. The exhibitions run through July 15th. After strolling the galleries, the shop, and the Center, you might want to head over to Chef Mario Batali’s Tarry Lodge for his signature Italian dishes, including wood-fired pizzas.

Concert and Fireworks at Caramoor

The stately and scenic Caramoor Center for Music and Arts is located in Katonah. On Saturday, they are hosting a July 4th celebration featuring Broadway baritone Ryan Silverman. Ryan will be singing classics from the Great American Songbook. He will be accompanied by trumpet soloist Amy McCabe and the Westchester Symphonic Winds. This patriotic evening also includes a finale with a fireworks display to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. Tickets can be purchased online.

Greenwich Polo Club

Get out your finest hats and plan on spending an elegant Sunday afternoon outdoors at the beautiful polo grounds in nearby Greenwich. The Polo Club is nestled in the more rural north area of Greenwich. This premier club hosts elite teams and renowned players from around the world. Polo matches are held on Sunday afternoons every summer. Tickets can be purchased online and range from $40 to $60. You are encouraged to arrive early to walk the grounds and enjoy meals prepared by some of the gourmet food trucks. There is also a full-service bar on the premises. Peekskill Riverfront 4th of July Concert

Finish off the long weekend Tuesday evening by taking a drive up along the Scenic Hudson River to attend the Peekskill Riverfront Concert Series. On the 4th, the venue will feature The Barnstorm band with Joe Walsh as lead guitarist. The concert begins at 7:00 PM. After the concert, the Peekskill Fire Department will end the night with their fireworks show right on the Hudson River. The fireworks are programmed to begin at approximately 9:15 PM. Be sure to bring an elegant picnic dinner.
