Travel Tips: Labor Day Events in New York 2017

Labor Day in New York can be traced all the way back to the days when union leaders fought for workers’ rights in the late 19th Century. New York is where the first Labor Day parade in the United States was held in 1882. The holiday is a symbol of recognition for the contributions that all American workers make to society and to the economy. Labor Day in New York City features numerous events and activities; from sports season kickoffs, concerts, and traditional parades. There’s just so much to do.

Labor Day is also the end of summer and you want to make the most of it. To have a truly stress-free time this Labor Day, let our New York ground transportation service take care of all your navigation through the increasingly busy streets of this big city. Our mission is to give you comfortable and luxurious passage to any destination of your choice and to grant you the opportunity to savor this last bit of summer.

NYC Labor Day Parade

Attend the New York City Parade and join thousands of others in cheering for the American workforce; teachers, doctors, firefighters, construction workers, librarians, and everybody else who keeps things running. The New York City Parade is organized by the City Labor Council and will be held on 2nd September. The march will begin at 10 am on Fifth Avenue and continue all the way to 67th Street.

Electric Zoo Festival

Unleash your wild side at the Electric Zoo Festival on Randall’s Island from 1st to 3rd September. This is an international event showcasing electronic music and its sub-genres. You can expect to have performances from globally recognized artists such as Deadmau5 and Zedd. If you want to end your summer with a bang, Electric Zoo Festival is the place to be this Labor Day weekend. Tickets to the Electric Zoo Festival range between $50 and $120.

West Indian American Day Carnival

The Labor Day weekend, for most people, is either just another Monday off or the last time they’re going to be free in a long time. These are both reasons to celebrate, but why not take it a step further and get all dressed up in beautiful feathery costumes at the West Indian American Day Carnival. Enjoy delicacies such as jerk chicken, delight in the presence of numerous Technicolor floats representing outlands such as Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados as you march all the way to Eastern Parkway.

US Open

In the spirit of Labor, sit back and watch others sweat at the US Open. This year New York’s USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center will be hosting this famous tennis tournament. Enjoy heated tennis sessions like you’ll see nowhere else. At the US open you will get to watch some of your favorite sports personalities compete, and you may even spot your favorite celebrity in the crowd.

New York clearly has no shortage of activities this Labor Day weekend. Other activities and attractions we haven’t discussed include the West Side County Fair, the Paradise Garage Reunion, the Labor Day Extravaganza, and many more. No matter what activities you choose to partake in, our Westchester car service is here to cater for all your transportation needs throughout the weekend. Let us take care of all the hectic navigation this holiday weekend as you and you companions focus on having a blast.
